Yellowstone was beautiful, but had a feeling of "the Disneyworld of the outdoors." We were lucky enough to be camped near the Lamar valley and it was baby season, I was falling in love with baby buffalo (I know, I know - their supposed to be called bison)</div><div align="center">Traveling through Virginia City Montana included this women's store that closed it's doors in the 1940's - everything having been left inside exactley as it was on the day that it closed. </div><div align="center">"Nevada City" is a large collection of original buildings, I "spookied up" this photo a little :)</div><br />

<br />
Had a great time on our road trip this summer! We drove through Montana and Wyoming and went to Yellowstone. <br />
One night this little Airstream was in our campground, I am trying not to be jealous!<br />
We went through lots of little old towns and dirt roads, and we even came across a real live cattle drive. I'll post more pictures soon!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7130450065395448752.post-62629120357352241912010-09-28T21:57:00.000-07:002010-09-28T22:25:11.324-07:00Feeling Crafty...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitF3aPmK9HbHunZtb-JfcOMsxCFE3OBWqA2qHuqmWYh7n3-PIu3_Pu_qg-nbYYjQ9bYelDvTkjhmHHGa7eSwemXrdqntZM4LqUhXXd4craSPLOIJzRWqkbBoh17QUAMX668EDt6SoMrAuq/s1600/0612.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitF3aPmK9HbHunZtb-JfcOMsxCFE3OBWqA2qHuqmWYh7n3-PIu3_Pu_qg-nbYYjQ9bYelDvTkjhmHHGa7eSwemXrdqntZM4LqUhXXd4craSPLOIJzRWqkbBoh17QUAMX668EDt6SoMrAuq/s640/0612.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Secretly, some part of me always welcomes this time of year, but I feel a little bad for my hubby. He hates rainy, grey days, and in the Northwest we get plenty of them. Sometimes weeks of them in a row.<br />
I however, really don't mind cranking up the fire place and listening to the pattering on the roof. There's something inherently cozy about a rainy day. and it relieves you of the urgent sense that you must GO somewhere and DO something. For once, you're allowed to daydream. <br />
Combine that with the opportunity to decorate for a myriad of well adorned holidays and you have an almost perfect season. Of course, I tend to say that about all of them! It's always good to have something to look forward to...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7130450065395448752.post-46028577997907478062010-09-19T12:32:00.000-07:002010-09-19T12:32:00.770-07:00Gearing up for spooky days....<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm5Bdz2Bj8wUTAOj3LqP-TlhY-PmTqktrYyOGt7TzTJUykIfkYaB1f11VUQH8NVrJOQxtD94KpF2BiDGVdtte5uILqYXQHj3YPWKKgYNGLq4OKos0D1m2cgRTxocWfPDPjdE3Wuyw7PrqU/s1600/Loney+Rd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm5Bdz2Bj8wUTAOj3LqP-TlhY-PmTqktrYyOGt7TzTJUykIfkYaB1f11VUQH8NVrJOQxtD94KpF2BiDGVdtte5uILqYXQHj3YPWKKgYNGLq4OKos0D1m2cgRTxocWfPDPjdE3Wuyw7PrqU/s640/Loney+Rd.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Came across this spooky old house in Eastern Washington - Complete with big dark nest in the tree and huge ravens flying around in a menacing manner. My hubby and I are getting geared up for Halloween - it's my favorite holiday to decorate for - and this photo seemed to fit. I'll be posting some of mine and my husbands creations this week. He is a talented sculpter, I just glue stuff together, but I'll also post some how-to's if I have time. <br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When I used to drive through the heartland of our state, I considered it a wasteland. I mean - miles and miles with barely a tree in sight - and I really love trees - and green, left me counting the miles till we reached the other side. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When I got married, I discovered that my husbands family owned their own little house on the prairie, a tiny, somewhat crooked little place, in a old, empty town. In time, my husband convinced me to take some road trips to "the cabin" as we call it, free being a pretty good price for accomodations. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We've since spent a few weekends there, and it creeps a little farther into my heart with each trip. Time passes so slowly there, and the empty fields that used to look barren, now feel like rest from the busy, blaring, neon life that most of us inhabit. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We've spent whole days out there, roaming around the back roads, taking pictures and poking through abandoned places, passing by the tractors plowing up the fields and the dirt devils, waving back to all the country folk who always have a smile and a wave for passers-by. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm coming to appreciate the big sky, the unobstructed view of the horizon, and the quiet simplicity of a long dusty road.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We had been alternating between calling them "Dick and Jane" and "Goofus and Gallant" or mostly I just call them birds - as in "Birds get out of the garden" (who knew ducks love onions?) but Dick and Jane it is...After checking for weeks and weeks, and pretty much giving up, I went to clean their pen this week and found nine eggs. She has laid an egg a day all this week, so we've started saving them in the fridge.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I'm not sure, but I'm thinking this is where Dr. Suess got the idea for "Green Eggs and Ham." It was broken into pieces, so she brought it all home and glued it back together, and treasured it for years because of the memories it brought back. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm thankful to own this little piece of history, and for the generous spirit that shared it with me.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7130450065395448752.post-90906250533171585982010-08-13T21:03:00.000-07:002010-08-13T21:03:24.265-07:00Love is the Key<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFKubtZiE22chH9MHBHWDj1LS46XECEsI1jD3m9DoABI1e9HY0ErXpi2iSv2lgVjwMPTSP8X5zasb0rFTLKX6X_NMQvX9cUYrYcXNep06R4YnSYa2Di235gHdbwS7zjqcMQw-ZiAhyphenhyphennWnE/s1600/Love+is+the+Key+with+Flowers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFKubtZiE22chH9MHBHWDj1LS46XECEsI1jD3m9DoABI1e9HY0ErXpi2iSv2lgVjwMPTSP8X5zasb0rFTLKX6X_NMQvX9cUYrYcXNep06R4YnSYa2Di235gHdbwS7zjqcMQw-ZiAhyphenhyphennWnE/s320/Love+is+the+Key+with+Flowers.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had so much fun creating this today...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It reminded me that when it comes to creating, play is part of the process! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I started by dumping out my collection of letters and playing around with them to spell different things.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I dumped a random collection of what I like to call "doodad-ery" next to them - and ended up with this. I took the background picture seperately. It was some flower "confetti" I had made last fall. I loved the confetti photo, but wasn't sure what I would do with it, until it occured to me that maybe I could combine it with my "Love is the Key" photo? I played with that for a while and this is the final result. I love it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have some other phrases/things I created, I will play around with them and post them when I have them done. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
